COO! COO! Dear flock! THREE IMPORTANT UPDATES TODAY! PLEASE READ BELOW:
Chain Halt Post-Mortem:
Yesterday, Paloma experienced a chain halt. This occurred while the engineering team tested Paloma LightNode V2 with Ledger Support. It appears that the AUTHz module store has different hashes for different states. We are working with Marko(Cosmos Dev) to understand why this is happening. You can read the ticket issue here:
. We will hodl on further authz testing as we believe this issue might be resolved on the next upgrade to Paloma v2.3.0.
Slashing in the nest:
Yesterday was the first day we had a Paloma validator slashed due to an accidental double-signing when the validator attempted to recover and sync from the KJ nodes snapshot after the chain halt. All delegators to that validator were slashed. Paloma LightNode owners were impacted. This was a failure of the validator, not the Foundation or the Paloma software. The Paloma LightNodes are meant to automate delegation but cannot forecast validator failure. In the future, we will deliver an improved LightNode version v2 allowing users to pick their validators for minting across several validators. However, LightNodes are meant to maintain cross-chain relay power consistency and reduce valset updates on the target chains that consume gas. Paloma LightNode’s automatic stake delegation enables Paloma to do more.
Paloma & Pigeon upgrades:
Welcome to Paloma and Pigeon v2.3.0 each! We are upgrading again with a significant upgrade that will bring Cosmos SDK 0.50.10 and Cosmwasm 2.0 to the
