Paloma Weekly Wings: Jan 8, 2025 - The Paloma Token Factory

The GRAIN token listing launch was postponed as Paloma protocol team observed limitations in Paloma’s Cosmwasm contract interactions with the new Token Factory module as well as the Skyway Bridge module. Thus, the protocol team has released upgrades to WASM handlers for automatic token launches and token bridging.

REMINDER WARNING:

The New Hatchling Paloma Network of

tumbler

(v2.4.1) and the Pigeon relay module are on v2.4.0 Paloma Although Paloma is 3 years old, its Cosmwasm and EVM contracts are still unaudited and undergoing continuous upgrades on the protocol and on all the supported target chains. The GRAIN token is available on the Paloma mainnet but is not yet trading on any centralized or decentralized exchanges. Although the flock is flying strong on the

tumbler

mainnet, it is still subject to the continued development of Paloma’s cross-chain messaging system and the security guarantees offered by the GRAIN token. We expect

tumbler

to experience weekly chain halts and chain restarts for upgrades. We also expect numerous undiscovered bugs and vulnerabilities. No one on this project controls or influences the price of GRAINs. The community will strive to preserve the mainnet state, which includes balances, but considers this mainnet high-risk. Proceed with caution.

The Paloma token factory expands Paloma denoms via the Paloma Token Factory module. The objective of this module is to allow anyone to create tokens on Paloma that will exist within the Paloma Cosmwasm smart contract module as well as in Paloma for active bridging to EVM chains. The first version of the token factory used the CLI in the Paloma v2.4.0. In Paloma v2.4.1, Cosmwasm handlers were added for the token factory so that tokens could be minted and owned by Cosmwasm smart contracts.

This will create a new token on Paloma, and transfer address rights to you.

The full denominator of your token will be

factory/$ACCOUNT_ADDRESS/subdenom

.

You can use the query command to list all of your tokens:

You can now start minting your new token. Here’s an example on how Alice minted 50 banditbytes:

You can also send your tokens to other addresses, just like GRAINS. Just make sure you use the fully qualified denom when making transfers. Instead of

500ugrain

, use

500factory/paloma142x0ts0rekgq6gxrw4see3j3ujejwn6mwre6gu/banditbytes

You’re now ready to start sending your token to other EVM chains.

First, you need to create an ERC20 token to track your Paloma token. At the moment, this is a manual process. It could theoretically be done automatically in the future. Here is how to do it for now:

Deploy ERC20 token from blueprint in private testnet

Now that we have both a token on Paloma and a tracking token on a remote EVM chain, we only need to create a link between them in the skyway module.

You need admin rights on your token in order to create or update this link!

We can use the following call to setup the link:

Here’s an example on how to build a link for the banditbytes:

We can query the skyway module to make sure the link has been created:

It works exactly the same as it does with GRAINS. Here’s an example to send 10000000 banditbytes to an address on Arbitrum:

The

bronzewing pigeons

are a group of

pigeons

native to

Australia

which have distinctive iridescent wing patches that appear bronze or green-brown in dull light, but flash in many bright colours in the sun as the bird moves. Three

species

are always known as “bronzewings” in the

genus

Phaps

, and several broadly similar birds also have the trademark wing patch to a more or less obvious degree. Bronzewings are ground feeders, but are capable of very fast flight. They tend to browse quietly until disturbed, then remain still, their earthy browns blending into the earth and

leaf litter

until the intruder approaches too closely, when the bronzewings take off with an explosive burst of sudden wing clapping and

feather

noise, and disappear from sight within moments.
