Simple Summary

Paloma proposes that community validators vote on testnet for the creation of a mainnet genesis and a mainnet-chain id code-name: cumulet. This mainnet will be built on the paloma v1.0 release code-named Hatchling. Abstract

On Thursday February 2, 2023, paloma’s mainnet chain will launch. With over 6 months of continuous development, thousands of community hours as well as community spend to test the network, Paloma launches its Hatchling release.

Paloma proposes that community validators vote on testnet for the creation of a mainnet genesis and a mainnet-chain id code-name: cumulet. This mainnet will be built on the paloma v1.0 release. Mainnet release will allow Paloma network to better identify the best product-market fit for the Paloma protocol while pursuing the release of market-tuned features.

Paloma expects that the hatchling release will invite further development and improvements on Paloma that differentiate this blockchain from many other messenger chain.

Motivation

The motivation for the release of paloma v1.0 and paloma mainnet are as follows:

  1. Cut a hatchling-mainnet release v1.0 of Paloma protocol
  2. Launch Paloma mainnet into the cross-chain communications marketplace
  3. Determine the Paloma product-market fit and value and effectiveness to attract and developers and partners that wish to leverage Paloma’s messaging layer
  4. Launch the Paloma Foundation to lead development and growth of the Paloma Protocol

Specification Overview

This action requires an upgrade of palomad and pigeond relayer software and that pigeon validators in the community install v1.0, the binary release for mainnet.

Rationale

This vote is a signal vote to secure the approval of the Paloma community validators that they wish to launch the Paloma mainnet with the version 1.0 of the Paloma and Pigeon software. This vote also signals that the community wishes to launch the GRAINs token to compete with other tokens in the Cosmos and greater crypto-ecosystem.
